Houston, we have a problem !!
CONGRATULATIONS guys !!
FORTY-NINE !!! (Astrid will explain to everyone, Remember Gmund ?)
It's Hayesy here, sending my best wishes to you both and hope you have a great day. I'm really sorry I can't be there to share in your special day, but unfortunately I'm stuck in Houston.
I have known Damian since I was about 11 years old and Claudia since the first few weeks after her and Damian became "steady".
I have always admired Damian's ability to take an afternoon nap, even though he has slept for 14 hours the night before - often not getting up until mid afternoon anyway.
Also I have plenty of embarrassing stories about him from school/college days and beyond, but he has plenty more about me, so I had better keep quiet. (Remember me slipping on ICE in warm weather? and the altercation at the bus-stop in Neubaugasse?)
The Good Times:-
I fondly remember the days of Saturday night at Spatz, or Camden Underworld, long walks to night bus stands and waiting for hours to get home. Also the early days in Vienna going out to Weberknecht(??) and the Chelsea.
To many people, Damian has a very eclectic music taste. But to those who know him, we all know he harks back to the 60's era of the Beatles. Indeed he had many other interesting hobbies as a kid - building & collecting airplane models, and also sitting on a riverbank with his pole in the water !
Anyway, before this note gets TOO LONG, I'l finish with a warm thank you to Damian, Claudia and Astrid who are very special friends, and a final CONGRATULATIONS to D+C on finally tieing the knot

Dear Claudia & Damian,
I wish you all the happiness on your big day tomorrow!! Sending you lots of happy thoughts! A few words of wisdom for you by the poet Kahlil Gibran.
"Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart, and the oak tree and cypress grow not in each other's shadow."
Lots of love
Henrika
